Clarifications:

• Both 1st and 2nd round auditions will use the cuts provided on the sheet music.

• District Senior High Concert Band will be the same audition as All State High School Concert Band 1st Round. Students who pass Round 1 will be invited to 2nd round auditions.

1st Round Auditions

Date: Saturday, September 27th, 2025

Location: Haynes High School

Audition Process: We utilize a "blind" audition process to ensure fairness, meaning judges will hear the student's performance without seeing or knowing their identity. Students will be assigned an audition number upon arrival. No names will be used with the judge. Students will perform the required scales and etudes with judges focusing solely on tone quality, intonation, rhythm, technique, and musicality. Using a rubric ensures selection is based purely on musical merit and preparation.

2nd Round Recorded Auditions

Audition Process: The 2nd round of All State Auditions is a live monitored recorded audition that will be submitted as an mp3 file by the District Chairperson. The state then judges the recordings using a rubric. For more information visit the LMEA website.
